Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium Headphones

The Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium Headphones are an extremely popular set of headphones for audiophiles.

Why is this?

Well just like the AKG 701s but of course different in their sound qualities, they provide excellent sound at a very good price that rivals headphones many time sits cost.

In fact a lot of people say they are as good or better thatn other brands at 2 times their cost.

The Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones are ones which like the 770s provides much musicality. Yes the AKGs can be a bit sterile for some, though accurate, but a little dry and high.

But the Beyer 880 is more of a headphone that you can enjoy the music in a more sumptuous way.

Best Noise Cancelling Headphones

If you travel on planes and fly often or just am in a noisy environment when you want to listen to music such as on trains, then you’d be looking for the best noise cancelling headphones.

They have passive and active noise reduction to cancel out or reduce the noise that is coming from the environment.

If you listen to normal headphones in a plane, you will often get:

1. Hearing fatigue as you expose yourself to the music loud and at the same time to prolonged levels of low frequency noise from the aircraft.

The word reference in the case of the AKGs, whether it’s the 701 or 702 means that you get all the detail in the recordings.

When you try the AKG and then switch to another headphone, you immediately realise that the AKGs are crystal clear and gives you all the wonderful detail and nuances in sound of a recording, while other headphones in comparison color the sound and often add too much base and generally ‘muddies’ the sound.

This is why many people, and myself like the AKG702 headphones. I have compared the AKG 701 to the 702 and they are similar, except the AKG k 702 is styled in black as opposed to silver and has a detachable cable so that you can upgrade the cable simply by switching cables.

The sound difference with AKG 701 vs 702? Continue reading

If you’re looking for an exciting new digital piano from Casio, then have a close look at the new Casio PX-330 Privia digital piano.

A few years ago, as I mentioned in the review of the Casio PX-130, I would have just gone to a Yamaha as they had a good series of digital pianos in the past. But now the Casios are getting more popular and I can see why. Meaning I can hear why.

The sound

When I tried the Casio Privia sounds in the latest series with their all new Grand Piano samples and linear morphing, the sound was very clear, exciting and above all responsive. This responsiveness to touch is not just the touch, it is the sound as well. This is where the realism of playing a piano comes in. When the touch responds and the sound responds, you have the ability to express your playing. Continue reading
